Arthur Bryant's Barbecue

Greetings from Merriam, Kansas! We're in a suburb of Kansas City, Kansas, and close to Kansas City, Missouri.

It's been a relatively uneventful day. We stopped for lunch near the Kansas Speedway, home to an annual NASCAR race. Kansas City is famous for its barbecue, and we found an Arthur Bryant's Barbeque restaurant just off the highway and convenient for RV parking. Bryant's is consistently voted one of the best BBQ joints in Kansas City, and we agree.

Jeff had a slab of ribs, I had a beef brisket sandwich, Ruth had ribs, and Henry, well, he had a corn dog. We tried to coach him, to no avail. He ended up having some of Jeff's ribs and some of my beef, and conceded that he made the wrong choice in ordering. The fries were fabulous and so was the homemade lemonade. We hope to try Gates BBQ tomorrow.

Next on the agenda is dinner with an old friend who lives in Olathe, Kansas and her family, and then we're going to the movies to see G Force in 3D. The kids are very excited about that!
